Preliminary Exercise 3A: Introduction to Mise en scene Codes Organizer

    Elements of Mise en scene

    Mise en scene video: https://youtu.be/3euNFd7-TCg

Mise en scene is the placement of actors and scenery on a stage for a theatrical, film, or television production. Mise en scene is important to film because it's the representation of storytelling in one image. The elements of mise en scene are, props, set design, costumes, makeup, color, lighting, blocking, framing, lenses, sound, frame rate, and music; all to make one shot. One thing I took away from the video is that mise en scene plays a big part in making shots that help build the story in the film. Another thing is that there are 2 types of mise en scene, naturalistic; the world in the film matches our own, and theatrical; an exaggerated world. The last thing I took from the video was that mise en scene shows a lot in one shot, for instance who/what is the main point of the shot, or how the position of certain things can show a setting, etc.
