Research Mise en Scene: Setting
Setting is what establishes the mood, style, characters, and theme of a film. It's also the product of time. The elements of setting are place/location, time period, time of day, culture/moral values, socio-economic status, mood of scene, message of scene, and genre of the film. Place/location is a proper or designated setting. Time period is the length of time in which an activity occurs. Time of day is the present time. Culture values are values that shape society and influences people to live in that certain society. Moral values are personal values a person has for oneself. Socio-economic status is the social standing/class of a person or group. The mood of the scene is the emotional atmosphere of the scene. The message of the scene is the message that the scene is portraying. The genre of the film is category in which a film is placed based on its setting, characters, plot, mood, tone, and theme.
